Frequently Asked Questions about Einstein Pre-Registration

Who is eligible for ER Pre-registration?

ER pre-registration is available to all residents living in the communities surrounding Einstein at Elkins Park.

How does ER Pre-Registration work?

Just call 1-800 EINSTEIN or visit www.einstein.edu/prepreg. In just a few minutes, we’ll set up your personal account with your name, address and other relevant information. The call is free and confidential.

Do I need any information in order to pre-register?

If you received a letter in the mail, it contains a five-digit identifying code above your name in the address field. When you call or visit us online, we recommend that you have this number handy.  However if the letter is unavailable, you can pre-register without the identifying code.

Do I have to provide my insurance information or my health information in order to pre-register?

No. We can set up your account with just your name and address, if you prefer. When you visit the ER, you can provide your insurance information and any other relevant information.

Is my health information secure?

Absolutely. Your ID tag contains no personal information and can be read only at Einstein at Elkins Park emergency room. Because you need to show another form of ID when you present your card, no one can use it except you.

I received a letter in the mail about ER Pre-Registration. Is there a deadline for pre-registering?

There is no deadline. You can pre-register at any time. However, we recommend that you pre-register as soon as possible so you’ll have your ID tags in case you ever need to visit the emergency room.

Can I get an ID tag for every member of my family?

Yes. You can pre-register every family member in your household.

What happens after I pre-register?

We will send ID tags for you and for each family member you enroll. Keep your cards and ID tags in a safe place, such as your wallet or on your key chain. If you ever come to the ER, simply present your tag. We’ll scan your ID tag and verify your information - and you’ll avoid a lot of time-consuming paperwork.

I enrolled my entire family. Will our names appear on the cards?

You will receive ID tags for each family member you enroll. On the back of each card is a space where you can write the name of each family member.

What if I lose my ID tag?

Call us at 1-800-EINSTEIN and we will send you a replacement ID tag immediately.

Do I need a new ID tag if I move?

No. You can continue to use the same tag. When you visit the ER, just give us your new address and we will update your information in our system.

What happens if I need to visit an ER while I'm away from home?

You should visit the ER nearest you. You are not limited to using the Elkins Park ER. However, the ID Tags are only usable at Einstein at Elkins Park.

Who can I call if I have questions about ER Pre-Registration?

Call 1-800-EINSTEIN between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. and one of our service representatives will be happy to answer your questions and complete the pre-registration for you.

How long does it take to get my ID tag?

You will receive your ID tag within two weeks of pre-registering.

What happens if I need to visit the ER before I receive my ID tag?

Upon your arrival in the ER, you will need to register at the reception desk and complete the necessary paperwork. However, after you receive your ID tag, we will simply swipe your tag and verify your information. So, you’ll save time.

Will I have to show any other form of ID when I visit the ER?

For security reasons, you will be asked to show a form of picture ID when you present your ID tag.

Can I use my ID tag at any other hospital or facility in Albert Einstein Healthcare Network?

Currently, pre-registration and ID tags are available only at Einstein at Elkins Park.

I completed a survey when I pre-registered. How will Einstein at Elkins Park use the information I provided?

We will use the survey data to help us provide you and your family with information about health issues that are important to you.
